Session Packages

1 Session

  • Purchasers of this service are entitled to one 50-minute session with a therapist.
  • The session will focus on the client’s experiences of being a Third Culture Kid, Adult Third Culture Kid or Cross Culture Kid.
  • Clients will be asked to submit a one-page essay (TCK Story) detailing their experiences prior to the commencement of the first session. Preferably, one day before the scheduled session. This will be used as base material for the session.
  • The session will begin by reviewing the text that the client has submitted. The therapist will then identify key areas of the clients experiences and illustrate how they have created a sense of displacement and suggest an action plan on how to counter their effects.  

 

5 Sessions

  • Purchasers of this service are entitled to five 50-minute session with a therapist.
  • The sessions will focus on the client’s experiences of being a Third Culture Kid, Adult Third Culture Kid or Cross Culture Kid.
  • Clients will be asked to submit a one-page essay (TCK Story) detailing their experiences prior to the commencement of the first session. Preferably, one day before the scheduled session. This will be used as base material for the first session.
  • The first session will begin by reviewing the text that the client has submitted. The therapist will then identify key areas of the clients experiences and illustrate how they have created a sense of displacement and suggest an action plan on how to counter their effects.  
  • The second and third session will be used to follow up on how well the action plan is being implemented and to offer alternative strategies if needed. The second half of each session will be reserved for cognitive behavioural training. The therapist will identify problem areas in the cognitive functioning of the client and teach the client techniques on how to change their thought patterns.
  • The fourth and fifth session will focus on The Acceptance and Commitment Therapy techniques, decentralisation, expansionism as well as non-attachment and life-planning exercises, in addition to a full review of the client’s action plan.
  • The suggested pace for this course is to take the first three sessions on a once-per-week basis, with a two-week break between the third and the fourth session and the fourth and fifth session.

 

10 Sessions

  • Purchasers of this service are entitled to ten 50-minute session with a therapist.
  • The sessions will focus on the client’s experiences of being a Third Culture Kid, Adult Third Culture Kid or Cross Culture Kid.
  • The sessions in the package are also available to family members, and can be portioned out at the volition of the client.
  • Clients will be asked to submit a one-page essay (TCK Story) detailing their experiences prior to the commencement of the first session. Preferably, one day before the scheduled session. This will be used as base material for the first session.
  • The first session will begin by reviewing the text that the client has submitted. The therapist will then identify key areas of the clients experiences and illustrate how they have created a sense of displacement and suggest an action plan on how to counter their effects.
  • The second session will provide a quick review of the contents of the first session before switching over to cognitive behavioural training. The cognitive behavioural training offered in this session will focus on issues regarding the client’s feelings of displacement and rudderlessness. The third session will expand on the techniques offered in the second session.
  • The fourth and fifth session will introduce Acceptance and Commitment Therapy techniques, and session six through ten will focus on strengthening the client’s use of these techniques, reviewing the action plan as well as working on a life plan.
  • The suggested pace for this course is to take the first three sessions on a once-per-week basis, with a two-week break between the third and the fourth session and the fourth and fifth session, with session six through ten occuring on a once-per-month basis.
